This is a unique edition of Carlson’s book. Rather than having a dust jacket, the cover is printed directly with an image of one of Carlson’s paintings. The book also contains one color plate (see the images for this book).
To me, this is a superior edition than the Dover series. The print quality is better, and you do have at least two color images (the cover, and the inside plate) of Carlson’s paintings.
It’s a rare book. The corners are bent in a bit (see the images). There’s a small amount of pencil marking on the inside cover. The binding is solid. The pages are bright for a book that is nearly 63 years old.
