Symphony of Light

Annie Haslam – of the music group Renaissance – sent me this video a few weeks ago. She had called me and we chatted for a good 45 minutes. Not only is she a remarkable vocalist with superlative range, she is also an artist and a lover of art. In our conversation she told me about the 50th Anniversary Ashes Are Burning Concert (2021) where they performed Symphony of Light. Inspired by polymath and artist Leonardo da Vinci, Annie wrote the lyrics to this song.

Interesting fact about this performance… Annie said that the dress she is wearing is a print of a painting she did. Yes, Annie Haslam is also a painter! She is a delight to talk with. Hearing her experiences performing with Renaissance and about how she became interested in painting is a fascinating and inspiring story. When we were talking I should have asked her if I could press the record button! Well, maybe one day I’ll record an episode of The Artful Painter with her and share it with you.
