Stop Crushing A Child’s Dream

Everything that brought me joy as a child was usually crushed by some adult (including parents) pontificating “You can’t make money doing that… It’s not practical.” Just stop it. I don’t like to envy but I have to admit when I interview an artist whose parents were supportive of their interest in art, I feel a wistfulness that I wish I had experienced that. Jim Breuer’s take on this is spot-on.

I’m singing my heart out! I wonder what could have been if my interest in art had been nurtured instead of crushed.
