Rick Delgado and the Art of Editing Documentaries (236)

What does video editing a documentary have in common with a deck of cards? Filmmaker Rick Delgado answers that question in this edition of the Artful Camera.

Last week Rick returned to Atlanta and we worked together filming pick-up shots and working on a second round of edits for my mini-doc Analog Made - One of a Kind

Just before leaving to catch his flight back home to Miami, Rick and I recorded our thoughts on the work we did over the last couple of days. We talked about a number of things:

  • The need to eliminate content that does not bring a story forward

  • Why Rick sold his lovely set of Zeiss CP2 primes.

  • Flying the Mavic Pro

  • The pros and cons of FCP X vs Premiere Pro CC

  • Workflow for working with FCP X audio in Adobe Audition
