DCP 102: The One About Color Monitors

DCP 102: The One About Color Monitors
Digital Convergence Podcast | Carl Olson

Bram Desmett of Flanders Scientific is the Mr. Wizard of all things color monitor. Bram joins the Digital Convergence Podcast team - Chris Fenwick, planetMitch, and myself (Carl Olson) to talk about what broadcast monitors are, and when and why you may need one. After speaking with Bram, I'm convinced that he could recite the hex codes of every single color in the rec709 color space - he's that smart. This is a great episode. Since I do not have experience in broadcasting (at least not enough to speak of), I found the discussion of color spaces, scopes, and broadcast monitors interesting. I think you'll enjoy it, too. Many thanks to Bram Desmett for joining us today.

We want to thank our listeners for supporting the show and spreading the word about the podcast. Please continue to leave us voicemail (using the tab to the right labeled Send Voicemail) or send us an email. We love to hear your feedback. In future shows we want to feature each month an episode of listeners questions where we will bring in other filmmaking and post-production experts to help us answer your questions.

We are going to be giving away 3 copies of CrumplePop's Grain35. The folks at CrumplePop have generously made these available and we are deeply grateful to them for sponsoring the show. Enter below:
